Gospel of John

Wednesdays, 6:30 - 8:00 PM
Room 1C, School Bldg.
$20 Material Fee* (per Semester)

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John. 1:1 RSV). These familiar words are the first found in the Gospel of John and the first we will encounter in our new Bible Study also on the Gospel of John. Please take advantage of this opportunity to become better acquainted with God's Word, and to cultivate a personal relationship with our Lord. Our goal in studying the Bible is to gain a better understanding of God's creation, His will in our lives, and to share the wealth of information and spiritual nourishment found in the Bible. If we call ourselves Christians, we have the duty to know what that means. The Magisterium of the Church and the Holy Bible are the definitive respondants to the meaning of Christianity.

This study of John will encompass a 28 week period, divided into two semesters, beginning August 27, 2003. Registration begins after the English masses of that week (Aug. 23rd and 24th). The hope is to provide a structured environment for forming a foundation of faith based on the teachings and guidance of our Holy Catholic Church. All you need to bring with you is a Catholic Bible, writing material, and a spirit open to the will of the Lord.

May the Love of Christ, the Enlightenment of the Holy Spirit, and the Blessing of God the Father be with each and every one of you.

* The $20 material fee covers all handouts for each semester, as well as a donation to Catholic Scripture Studies. The fee will be reduced to $10 per semester if a student prints their own material from the website.

Disclaimer: I do not wish to present myself as an expert in either theology, history, or scriptural interpretation. I am merely someone who is attempting to answer the call of Christ. The ultimate authority and interpreter of scripture is our Holy Catholic Church. If at any point I deviate from the teachings of the Church, please correct me, alfredo@nevarez.net, as this is my shortcoming and in no way meant to be an expression of my views superceding those of the Church founded by Jesus Christ.
